The Ghosts in the Mist arc is finally, mercifully, over and yes, it was long. Like “I blacked out at chapter 181 and woke up at 200” long.

The final part of the arc was Part 23. Which means this one arc alone took a tenth of the entire fic. 

A TENTH!

I basically wrote a whole damn short story inside the fanfic.

But it had to be done. This arc was  more of a setup. It had many things in it.

Ren and Kakashi bro-moments? ✅

Ren inventing new tech mid-fight? ✅

Obito and Zetsu being shady uncles in the background whispering about Ren? ✅

Kakashi leveling up without the sharingan? ✅

Danzo being the trash raccoon he always is? ✅

Hitoshi dying... almost... and Ren saving him like an emotionally constipated hero with trauma issues? ✅

Hitoshi’s scene was rushed, yes. I'm not going to lie to you. It was jank. 

However, I was bound by Chapter 200. But the point stands, Ren is rewriting canon by doing stuff.

We've already seen him save Eiji from the canon death club. Hitoshi too. 

Utakata and Juichi are next on the saved by Ren list, and this time, I’ll try not to bungle it like I did with Hitoshi.

Quickfire chapter notes I couldn’t squeeze in because the chapters were THICC.

Ren is absolutely not on Kisame’s level right now. The only reason he didn’t get filleted is because of his cheat code clones regenerating chakra. That’s how he was spamming S-Rank Fire jutsu like they were smoke bombs.

The fuinjutsu that trapped Kisame? 

Yeah I’m not explaining it. Why? Because it’s just another sealing array and also because Utakata and Tenzo built it offscreen like some cursed ritual. Just assume it was dope and move on.

Was Kisame properly represented power-wise in this arc?

Honestly? Probably not. I messed up the scaling a bit as first fight he was trolling, second fight went full magician mode... not ideal for flexing brute strength.

BUT.

Big fish man will return and next time, I’ll let him cook or be cooked properly.
