Since bread isn't as big a thing in Asia as it in the west, it is often used in desserts. Whipped cream sandwiches are often found in the convenience stores in Japan. And in some restaurants, they will take an uncut loaf, hollow it out, and fill it with butter, whipped cream, or ice cream, etc. Another thing, the sweet stuff is often listed as the women's course here in Japan.
