NO you don't know that Katherine chose Stefan, nothing so far told you anything like that, you imagine it because you assume that Stefan is the good guy and Damon is that bad guy , but are they? Nothing in this show is black and white. Don't be so quick to judge because that will make you see things in a bias way and miss important stuff, that is called CONFIRMATION BIAS: the tendency to seek out and prefer information that supports our preexisting beliefs. As a result, we tend to ignore any information that contradicts those beliefs. Be carful with that because it will throw you on the wrong path.....keep you mind open. Elena doesn't know Stefan, but we know he is definitely lying to her, gaslighting her, that is a fact. We don't know what happen with Katherine, that is another fact. And Bonnie is right "what if he is a calculating manipulative lair " what does Elena knows about him, really? That he is a high school boy with an older brother and they both dated a girl....are those facts or lies?

Another thing that VERY IMPORTANT, if you need to say something , just pause, don't talk over, in TVD the dialogue is very important, there is nothing that isn't, you have to pay attention to the dialogue word for word, because there is so much information given, even by secondary characters. Every reactors do that, pause an say things, people are used to it and don't mind at all.
