Hmm, 2, 3 or 4 dimensional space if time is or isn't taken into consideration.

2022-05-10 15:20:46 +0000 UTChi! Sooo, I have a question from the video this month's bloopers are from. Brain hurt. Are the "raisin loaf" and "balloon" expansion theories or examples incompatible, or do they describe different aspects of expansion? I ask because with the loaf theory (hypothesis?), it's a three dimensional space where objects throughout are moving away from each other in the three axes. But with the balloon example, it's more two dimensional and all objects are moving along the membrane. This hurts my brain because I can conceptually understand space expanding into nothing with the balloon example because the surface of the balloon just gets larger, so objects expand along with it. But that seems to rule out three dimensional space. The loaf example seems to explain the three dimensional space part, but it has a boundary - the crust. I'm having a super hard time trying to mesh the two. If they're incompatible, is one closer to what we think is really happen? If they're complimentary, how do they coexist? Thanks!!
