An update about Dianna's patreon - from Levi

Hello Patrons,

This is Levi here. For those of you who don’t know, I am Dianna’s videographer and editor. This is an another update regarding Dianna’s health and the short-term future of this Patreon.

Dianna is unable to make any content at this time in order to recover from Long Covid. It’s extremely debilitating, and unfortunately there is no getting around the fact that she can’t work. At least for the next few months. She’s been trying to put in time here and there, but it has always slowed her recovery, and at this point, she needs to fully step away. Kyle (her husband and co-producer) and I, with my sister/Dianna’s production assistant, Hope, have taken the responsibility of the channel, and managing it in her absence.

So, for now, I’ll be editing and releasing as much original content I can from Dianna’s footage from over the years. I have so much unseen video moments, cool BTS, and funny Dianna moments. There will be more candid stuff I release here on Patreon, and shorter videos to be seen on social media.

All the perks here will have modified versions for now, seeing as Dianna can’t be directly involved. So we will be bringing back the livestream in order to get feedback from you as well as answer any questions you may have, but it will be me, Levi, on the livestreams, maybe with Hope and Kyle to help answer your questions. I know I’m not exactly the enthusiastic physics girl you signed up to support. Believe me, no one misses her more than me. But all of this will be in an effort to support her and the channel so that it’s ready for her when she’s ready to come back. With that said, we totally understand if in light of Dianna’s absence, you need to cancel, pause, or make adjustments to your subscription. If you have any questions on how to do that, you can reach out via Patreon message, and Hope or I will help you through that.

Thank you so much for all your support during this time. The future of Physics Girl is a bit uncertain right now, and we truly just don’t know when exactly we’ll be 100% back until we see how Dianna feels over the next coming months. But without the support from you here on Patreon, we wouldn’t be able to do any of this.

SO if you guys have any immediate ideas of what you would like to see from Dianna’s data base, reach out to me, pitch ideas. And expect to see posts from a lot of her content across her socials, and also updates regarding Long covid. For now, here is a random example of cool stuff I’ll be giving. The full moment of us entering the Permafrost tunnel and that experience. Hope you guys enjoy BTS stuff like this. What other moments you interested in seeing? CERN, LIGO, The Arctic, you name it.Thanks everyone. I hope you’re doing well, and we appreciate you all.

Just saw the latest PG post on the main channel and joined the team's Patreon specifically to support all the food wife come together to make the content. Of course, wishing for a full and speedy recovery for Diana AND for all of the team that support her and the channel. Whatever y'all decide to post or share, recognize the need to take care of each other and yourselves.

Iggy Nelix

Together, we can do great things. I must also support my granddaughter, that is juggling college and a part time job. I am considering your offer. For now reruns will do. I have learned so much, watching Dianna on youtube, It is a pleasure to help her. God bless you and her, Amen.

Rick Emmertson

The only content we are interested in is to see Dianna's smiling face back on the Tube helping us all make sense of the universe, It takes what it takes.

Tony latemore

Same here....I joined to help. I just found Dianna's Instagram and am captivated by her enthusiasm, intelligence, and joy. The world needs more people like this. So, let's keep this team going! Sending peace, love, and all the good juju. Get well, Dianna! Hugs from Kansas.

Susan Schaible

Like so many here, I only joined Patreon to provide a little bit of support. No content or premiums required.

Lisa Caloh

This was my first Patreon subscription, like others, I did it to help, not for content. Hopefully, there will be enough of us to add up to enough to keep her going. There must be medical bills and other costs in addition to just daily needs. Get well soon!

Michael Pry

thanks for doing this

Keith Woeltje

Same as the rest. I can't give much, but hopefully, enough folks will be able to do the same so it adds up. I know everyone's always too proud to do this sort of thing... but perhaps get other YouTubers to draw attention to this Patreon. Pride is fine, but I think this is a serious enough reason to put pride aside. My wife also has Long Covid, but not to the same degree (Narcolepsy, yes, but not the full debilitating lethargy). So to that end, I think an interesting topic for users would be a deep dive into Long Covid. Kind of tough to bring it around to physics (there definitely is physics in medicine, but I digress). I think the fact that it's affecting our girl should be enough to make the content interesting.

Dimlu Tine

I joined just to help. But if you're looking for ideas, I'll share that I discovered Squirmy & Grubs a few months back through some if their short form content on TikTok. I don't know if you already produce short form content, but if you don't you might consider starting.

David Castro

In sickness and in health. We are with you.

Jon Hammersberg

I joined the help! She is one of the most inspiring women I know

brian laux

I joined to what little I can to support Diana in her recovery from long COVID. It is admirable that you want to continue to provide content, and I don't want to disuade you from that if it is what you are called to do and want to to, but I would be content with just having you spend your energy helping Diana and just keeping up-to-date from time-to-time. Diana's health and well-being have to be the priority Thanks for all you and her loved ones are doing to support her!!! Take care of yourselves too!

Jim Bull

Same here. I joined to help out and just want Dianna to take good care of herself. Your idea of mining the bins for footage sounds nice, but really the main thing is for her to get better.

Craig Good

I, too, joined just to help. Don't worry about content — I'm just happy to contribute xoxo

Marlene Merritt

Like others here, I also joined to help out now. Keep the updates coming, please. Sending virtual flowers and teddy bears!

Bill Storm

I joined to help, so just get healthy- take care of yourself too Levi

Richard Baccus

I showed my wife, Lin, the video about her condition. Also a suffering from long COVID for two and a half years, it led to a very deep conversation between us. Best wishes to you all.

Leslie Davis

I signed up BECAUSE of her absence. I hope she doesn't feel pressured to make content. She needs to focus on getting better. My monthly contribution will be here whether she makes content or not. (Until ChatGPT takes my job)

Joey

Same here

Amit

Yep, same.

Icampvoidzones

Yep. Don’t sweat content. Here to pay bills.

David Lawson

Same here.

Stephanie Guertin

Yep, same!

Vernon Pratt

Seconding this. Please give Dianna our best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

Michael Sperry

Mate, I only signed up after I found she was ill. Thanks for the update chap!

David Neale

I joined to help. I want Dianna to concentrate on getting better, and not have to worry about the show. We will still be here when she gets back. Shout if you need more help for something.

Adam Crowther

My thoughts and love are with you all.

Marisa Neppl

I joined to help. She's such a light this world needs. Every time I watch her she fills my heart and lifts me up with her joy and passion your a

I just joined patreon to support Dianna in her recovery. For me, and I guess for so many other people, the most important thing now is that she gets better and her family and team can get through it. So, from that perspective, don't worry too much about the content. Keep spreading the word about long covid, keep us posted about her (and the team), and above all, be strong for her.

Jose Luis

A friend of mine got long covid and after two years she can now move around her house with use of a stick. It must be awful for anyone that gets it. I loved this channel and Dianna was always so enthusiastic. Really hope she gets better soon :(

Nik Baumann

Exactly this! I recovered my patreon credentials just to chip in.

Lucas Wendel

I'm holding you, Dianna in my heart. Can and do / can't and don't

Lou Gottlieb

I rejoined the P specifically to help in this tough time. No worries about content. Best wishes to Dianna and the whole team!

Jason Hafner

I have had chronic fatigue for almost 20 years. I completely sympathize with how frustrating and painful it is to not be able to do the things you want to just because you are too tired. For me just going to the grocery store in the morning feels like I have been at work all day. Take as much time as you need. Do not push yourself. It only makes it worse. We will be patiently awaiting the day you can be mad at Simone for being the best friend in the world. Much love.

Ryan Mooney

I'm gonna be honest, I joined her Patreon just to help out with bills. I, for one, don't need new content. I need her to get better. Produce what you can...or don't. I'll watch, or I'll wait. Love to Dianna, and to her family and friends.

Dale Roe

its awesome that her friends pitched in to support her,, there is no time limit, no hurry, her health is what matters, thanks levi

TomT

I’m 3 years disabled with Long Covid and joined Patreon today specifically to support Dianna. Here for the “long haul” ❤️‍🩹

Centralperk

Hi. I just want her to get back on her feet. Unless she shuts down her channel I ain't goin' anywhere. I try to avoid social media like the plague, excluding YouTube of course. But I'll happily watch anything you'd like to put out there. Get better soon Physics Girl! That is your main job right now.

Tberry

(Levi typing) Thanks so much for the comment! I appreciate it, more to come =)

Dianna Cowern

I just joined to support just a little bit not knowing there'll be BTS footage here but I love it :) I immediately remembered Amanda, she's so cool (pun not intended). Looking forward to seeing more. Thank you for managing this, and best wishes to Diana, I hope stepping back helps with her recovery, health is most important.

Kristian

Thank you for this update and posting some of the BTS content! I do have a request though... can you please not post them as "short"s? The YouTube Shorts interface is exceptionally annoying (with the overlayed buttons and text that you can't dismiss), not to mention the extra-cropped frame. Obviously I can't speak for others, but I would strongly prefer then just being posted as videos which happen to be short. Regardless, I really hope Dianna feels better soon! Seeing the video of her from a month ago is a depressing contrast to her normal energetic and excited demeanor :(

Christopher Kemsley

Thanks! Ill keep em coming

Dianna Cowern

By the way, the BTS is very cool. Love it.

Dalbunosky

I will watch anything you want to post; take whatever time you need to recover your health.

Rick Ashcroft

We are not interested in videos from this video that are poorly made or where she or any of you are half dead or even a tenth dead.

Dalbunosky

Thanks for the update. Everyone’s long Covid is different and some things are unfortunately permanent (it gave me mild emphysema). I will say make sure a good doctor is trying things, my wife was put on a low dose antidepressant for a couple of months which ended a 10 month long headache from Covid (as far as I know they still have no clue why it works for some people but her doctor saw an article that it helped some people and gave it a try). I had some improvement when my doctor suggested I try the Moderns booster instead of continuing with Pfizer. He said he had seen reports of that in both directions for some people. Just switching the kind of shot not one better than the other. Having said all that yesterday was the second anniversary of getting out of the hospital and in addition to the lung damage, I still cannot focus as well as I did preCovid.

Mike

Sounds tough! Please rest properly and don't worry about your fans! We can always rewatch older videos for now. It's a lot of good stuff!

Henrik Jacobsson

I wish Dianna a full recovery, however long that takes.

Mike Schultz

Hang in there Dianna. We will be here when you recover and return.

Kieran Daly

How can I send her a gift? Do you have a P.O. box?

Hal E Hibben

Thanks for the update! Wishing Diana a full recovery and not going anywhere in the meantime.

Miguel Angel Vilela

Caring for the care team is caring for the patient, it's just indirect. I've been the primary care giver for someone with critical health issues. It's extremely taxing. I doubt having a few people involved spreads the load out enough that it feels like it's really "doable". It's still something that just must be done, whatever it takes. Don't sell yourself or the rest of Dianna's immediate care team short. I also have been the patient, and I remember how stressful knowing that, while I was normally the breadwinner, I couldn't just then, and recovery was something I had pull off to be able to continue in that vital role. For me, like Dianna, there was nobody else who could really do my job while I was out. It would've been very helpful for me to have at least had someone who could leverage what I'd already done. Thank you, both for your role in that and for finding content to share in the mean time. I'm sure we all appreciate it.

Some Ed

I have said this before so this only a repeat. My request to Dianna is "get horizontal and stay there" I know of no better or other way to deal with long Covid than to rest and wait it out. I, for one, will continue mt Patreon support as long as necessary, useful, possible.

Mark Dakins

This must be so challenging for Diana and for all of you trying to keep things going on her behalf. I also have Long Covid (although not nearly as severely as Diana) so I especially feel for her. Behind the scenes stuff is always fun to see and I'll be looking forward to it!

Get To Know Nature

We are with you. Doubling our monthly contribution. Relax and focus on doing what you need to do to heal. We'll still be here when you get back.

Wordragon

Not going anywhere. Looking forward to some behind the scenes and extra video whenever it comes out. Wishing all the healing, strength, and patience along the road to recovery.

Luis Torrefranca

Yup...definitely a producer :P

Dan Peterson

Us too, thank you for the support.

Dianna Cowern

I find these types of videos actually very interesting, I like the kind of "uncut" feeling of BTS stuff especially with someone like Dianna who seems so real and genuine with everything she does. Hope for a good and healthy future for you guys and Dianna! Keep the spirits up the way you always do, not going anywhere ❤️

Anton Steenken

Thank you!

Dianna Cowern

Ill try to find as much original content as I can, Dianna left me with a lot so it'll be fun to release it for her

Dianna Cowern

Get well soon! :)

Michael From Texas

Thank you! I'll keep giving more.

Dianna Cowern

Aw, thanks man I appreciate it. All the kind words, it's so much to take in haha.

Dianna Cowern

Thank you for your support! You guys are awesome. We have bloopers planned and we will keep them coming =)

Dianna Cowern

We read this and Levi literally said "ooooooo" haha. This is awesome! We'll look into it, and updates on our other videos! That's a great idea, thank you!

Dianna Cowern

Thank you for the update. I want Dianna back as much as everyone. But, recovery is so important. I would love a few couple minute bloopers reels spread out over the weeks/months. I am excited to see what you do with the unreleased content. I am sure you will be amazing as always with your editing skills!

Suzanne Strickland

I hope Dianna has a speedy and uneventful recovery. As a 'behind the scenes' person myself...I understand that Producing/editing put as much into the DNA of content as the person on camera...Thank you Levi, for all of your contributions! I'm not currently in a position to increase my pledge, but I would strongly encourage this amazing and wonderful group of people to show their support to this incredible group of individuals who work to make the content we love!

Dan Peterson

sounds like a good idea...healing can take a lot longer than you expect... and pushing to early is counterproductive. it would be cool if you could do some updates on things like the moving mud puddle. thanks

slugbiker

I miss seeing new videos, but Dianna definitely needs to take care of her health first and foremost. I'm not going anywhere and I'm looking forward to the day when she's back!

Jim Reamey

I thoroughly enjoyed the BTS video and I hope Dianna can take all the time she needs to fully recover.

James Morehead

Here to support the fine work done by Dianna and team, in sickness and in health! Here’s to recovery!

Everyday Astronaut

I just want Dianna healthy!

Douglas Boyle

I support Diana, hope she's better soon
