Bloopers - Spoon Riddle video

Here are some bloopers/funny moments from Dianna's spoon riddle video.

This made me smile, thanks for sharing it 🥹

So I found this: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/pronunciation/english/mirror And I think you're pronouncing it fine and clearly. The bias of those who are disagreeing with your pronunciation are likely the result of their dialects. I suspect each of you hail from different parts of the world (or even different parts of the U.S.) where you simply have different pronunciations. None of the ones I've heard you speak are wrong - but there are like a half dozen ways to say the word. Or maybe you each grew up in different locations. Summary: your pronunciation is not a blooper. But it's a fun video :)

I don't know that I've ever heard Dianna swear before...it was like the time I got to work with Ira Glass and he swore like it was going out of style...I love it!

Dan Peterson

It's a fantastic word in any case :-) Spanish people speaking English with a strong accent would say miRRRRRoRRR, as if we are starting an engine. Even our "espejo" has that veeery strong J there that only Dutch correlate. But the funniest are Germans, saying "Spiegel" and, when they put it together with "Ei" (egg), you don't get an egg on a mirror but... a fried egg (Spiegelei). Thanks Levi & Team for sending past funny stuff :-) We love you guys! Kiss to Diana, hope she's feeling better :-*

Yes, Dianna, it has *two* syllables! It's not "meer"!

Phil Stubblefield

Probably should pronounce it differently if it is concave, convex or approximately flat?

Michael Porter

Silliness at its finest!

Barry

Just posted the poll, thanks for the idea!

Dianna Cowern

Haha perfect

Dianna Cowern

Mere-Or, Meer, ME-er?

Suzanne Strickland

(Levi typing) That's a good idea! How should I do it? Haha, like "mirror" or "mere" or "meer"? Weirdly enough I think I just realized I pronounce it "mere"

Dianna Cowern

I think I switch between the two...

Paul Eykamp, PhD

Dinglehopper! I pronounce mirror the same way you do Dianna. Levi, can you run a follow up poll (for fun) to see how we pronounce it? Beautiful Ariel impression. Keep on resting!
