Richard Pierce mentioned how a deep hot tub is hard to get and I want to mention the AquaDoula which a friend of mine rented for a couple of months from her midwife for a home water birth. We set it up in the kitchen. There's a (bromine? chlorine?) tablet for keeping the water clean, which in the case of a home birth, well, let's just say it gets pretty ooky, during the natural process. If I lived nearer than 3000 mi away, I'd set one up at my house so you could see it, because I think it might work for you folks. In your case, I'd drain it after each and every use, and put in a new liner each time, because guarding against microbes lingering in the plastic folds and getting the water support you need is more important than limiting plastic use. And you could give away the dried, used bags to others without immune issues for great storage bags..

Not appropriate to fight here or to demand prayers from others. My suggestion to pray stands for those who are praying people and everyone else can show support as they might. To the person who asked about any answers to prayer, you might go and talk sincerely (not argumentatively) with people who feel they have experienced answers. If you actually are interested, rather than wishing to argue, that is. A big point here is that as we see with Dianna, there are times in life when we unexpectedly find ourselves beyond the bounds of what medicine or anyone else can do and then, many people will turn to prayer because they have absolutely nothing else left. My suggestion might be to check in with such people to see what they have to say.

Thank you for the health update, even though it wasn't what I'd have hoped for. I tell myself that Dianna will be able to reopen her work space, better than before. In the meantime, to make her more comfortable and to help her to heal, have you thought of putting photos or posters or print-outs around her room showing scenes from nature? I've read that patients whose rooms overlook gardens require less pain medication and recover sooner. The images won't be as good as the real thing, but they'd be something. Also, I've read it can be healing for humans to see images of fractals and other mathematical patters in nature; given Dianna's interests, that should hold doubly for her! When it gets warmer out, hopefully you can gently lift her into a wheelchair and take her outdoors near actual foliage; many hospitals are adding "healing gardens" to help their patients by creating a space for them to go outside and be among nonhuman living things. I wish her all the best in her healing, and wish her family the best in caring for her.

I do hope Kyle can hire some help. I took care of both my sister and my dad in their final months. It took it’s toll on me physically and psychologically. When I finally got a nurse to help it was a Godsend. I really do hope she gets better soon. It breaks my heart to hear she is still suffering so much.

Here's the problem with the "proof" you're demanding, it's impossible to provide because it's impossible to test. But prayers align with existing physics phenomenon, namely the Observer Effect. If you wanted to test the Observer Effect when it's something as "simple" as a coin flip or a subatomic particle spin post collision then it's easily repeatable and testable. But if it's something life or death, like the tenuousness that is the struggle for life in a catastrophic situation like Dianna finds herself in, then you can't really A/B test that, right? And at the end of the day, a quick prayer to the universe to send Dianna positive energy would have taken you ⅛th the amount of time you wasted on your diatribe cause, seriously, as a physicist, the comments from silly atheist fanatics are TLDR. What a cruel hand Fate has dealt Dianna ☹️! I had no idea of what Long COVID was until two weeks ago when I went to Dianna’s Physicsgirl channel and started watching the update videos. Seeing Dianna in bed, watching Kyle doing everything he can for her, and listening to Simone’s poignant narration, I was shocked by the severity of Dianna’s illness. I realized that the initial comment I made on her condition was totally unhelpful and ignorant, but it was posted before I looked at her channel. So, I am now a Patron for Dianna, and wishing for her to recover, quickly, slowly, but just recover.

Some actual evidence that praying vs not praying has helped people recover from serious illness in any statistically significant way. (Out of curiosity, what would you say to all the people who prayed for their sick loved ones and lost them anyway? Were they not praying enough? Not faithful enough? Science: "the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation, experimentation, and the testing of theories against the evidence obtained." That's the kind of thing she has tried to promote, not fluffy unfounded directives based on nothing that can be substantiated.

From personal experience with LH: It's going to feel like this for a while, and like it'll never end... until it starts getting easier, little by little, until life gets somewhat normal again. This agony won't be forever, in spite of it feeling that way. I don't know how soon you'll find the light at the end of the tunnel, but you have to keep moving along until you get there. Do yourselves a favor and don't get stuck in the loop of worrying about what long-term damages await you, they're probably emotional but you'll be grateful that you get to work on it while living a normal life. Hang in there.

I want to offer support, and some advice, because I am in similar, but not quite as dire circumstance. Has Palliative Care been called for an assessment. When a person is this unwell, and not getting better, it’s draining on everyone. Not only can palliative care come to her. They can help with pain, fatigue, and many other worries. I was just placed on palliative care last week, and I wish I had done it a looooong time ago. I want to she Dianna get better and get back to making amazing videos. I can tell you all just need the extra support, and a palliative care team might be very helpful.
