Merritt's Story - Excerpt - Meeting Samsid

Hey all! As promised, I'm sharing another excerpt from Merritt's story. This is from his first time meeting Samsid. It also gives a good deal of insight into what Merritt thinks of Samsid, so it might be a little spoilery. At this point, Merritt is a captain in the North Sphere's military, and Samsid is the East Sphere's right hand.
A little bit of background: those of you who have read all the excerpts I've posted might be able to guess that the major theme of Merritt's back story is his conflict with Belmont, who is the North Sphere's right hand at the time of DOTU. This excerpt takes place shortly after Belmont was named right hand. (This takes place after both other excerpts I've posted.) Belmont has attacked Merritt in the stairwell at Yackley's, and Merritt can't defend himself because he's too low in rank to touch Belmont without permission.
No audio this time because you would all cringe if you heard me reading Samsid's dialogue. Hopefully someday I can figure out a decent, non-cringeworthy way to do it. And P.S. I should be posting $10 December sketches tonight.
