Detail shot up above!
I mentioned in my private message that I reworked an old sketch. Here's the before and after. Merritt's facial expression in the new version gets a little skewed from the compression/shrinking, but you can see it better in the inks that follow.

And here's the ink, which is mostly faithful to the pencil except I corrected the direction of Belmont's hair, haha:

I always struggle with how far I should go on the shading, because detailed shading can detract from line art, and I liked the line art on this one. I think it comes across better in b/w than in the final color. (I might even go back and play with the color again someday.) Here are a few b/w detail shots:
