Thank sYou

Hello inner circle.

The short film is finished and now on YouTube.

If you’re still here, I want to thank you so much for supporting me through the last four months. If you had to leave, I don’t blame you. $20 is a lot of money in this world where we are all struggling and every penny counts. There have been many times in life when having $20 charged to my card would have meant I had negative 20 dollars.

Four months of being completely in the dark about when the next upload would be, if ever. I promised I was working hard— but, for all you knew, I could’ve been in Aruba drinking out of a coconut, buying drinks for the whole bar, saying “Use my card, I conned a bunch of idiots into paying me to do nothing.”

But, you had faith I’d be back. That, or you forgot you signed up. Whatever the case may be, I am so grateful to all of you.

Much like the deep dark ocean, this is uncharted territory, and I have no idea what to expect. Not everyone will like it, it’s completely different from anything else I’ve ever made, and it’s not the kind of thing 75% of my audience would probably ever seek out.

But, the arts are an investment in the future. In the film world, your first short films or low-budget features are often called “calling cards.” They are a statement of intent, a showcase of what you can create on your own and what you hope to create in the future.

There is so much content out there. You can go find a million other things tailor made for your sensibilities at any given moment. So, my hope is that, if nothing else, you see in this short 12 minute video something you couldn’t see anywhere else. Something that, in a content landscape full of bullshit made by robots in a basement, you can feel was made with painstaking care and love. Even if you hate it, or your reaction is a muted “…huh.” That’s okay! That’s what art is all about.

I have so much to say, but I just wanted to make sure I said thank you first.

Attached is a photo of me in August, shooting the underwater stuff. The pink was the only color the dive shop had. IT WAS ALL THEY HAD!!!

Thank sYou
