Frieren is seeing someone who themselves lived such a long time, but are approaching their end. He can recall the promise to his beloved wife, but canโt recall the look of her face or the sound of her voice. All he recalls is that heโs in the town she loved and that he made a promise. He remembers Frieren in one go, but forgets that she and her team already killed the Demon King. Itโs that bit that makes Frieren pause. To again realize the ravages of time and give us, the viewer, another pang of sadness. This show manโฆ
