More Patron exclusive content! But how?

Hello Patrons,

as we have a discussion on our Discord server at the moment and not all of you are on it, I'll give you a chance to comment on it here! :)

I've been thinking about it for a long time now, how to make Patron exclusive content.

There are two options for videos. None of them directly from Youtube.

There are three different ways of restricting viewers on Youtube. Public (for everyone), Not listed (for everyone to see on the channel page but not suggested on the Main page) and private (not visible to anyone except me).

Now Patreon only gives paid options.

Either Vimeo Patreon for a small fee per months. It let's me upload Videos to Patreon from Vimeo that only you guys could see.

Or Crowdcast, which would give me the option to live stream directly to Patreon for a huge amount of money per month. It's $34 for 10 hours of streaming per month up to $139 for 40 hours. As I only get a bit below $200 per month from Patreon, that would take a way a lot of money out of your pockets for these live streams, and I couldn't use the money for equipment anymore (very much needed). So that's not really an option in my opinion.

So, Vimeo would be an option for video, but it would cost $8 per months and give me only 5GB of Upload. A 10 minute video is about 1GB. So that would be A max of 10 5 minute videos for $8 per months. What you could expect, would be absolutely unedited (like live) video vlogs, where I'd tell you about bits, that did not make it into the Episode, how I make What about it!?, or what in general I think about.

Now my questions to you Patrons are:

Would you like this?
Would you deem it worthy of your money being spent on it?
Would you have other ideas for realizing more Patron exclusive content (as I very much want to do that anyway)?

Thank you for being a Patron and for reading!

Best regards,

Felix

Honestly I would rather the funds spent on equipment and graphics. Also it frees more time for research and livestreaming.

Continuing the trend. I signed up to help support your main YouTube channel. I feel good when you say you were able buy some new equipment. I'd be fine with just text posts here letting us know when that happens or tidbits that didn't make the cut.

I did not contribute for exclusive content but because I like your show. Just continue doing what you are doing. ;-)

Brian! I know UStream! The problem here would be, that it's not integrated into Patreon, meaning that every Patron has to manually apply to UStream. There will be no notifications on Patreon either. I fear, this would lead to a very small amount of Patrons actually participating. I'd love to reach as many as possible.

G’day Felix, There is difference between your show and others currently on the internet, can’t put my finger on it but it is the whole reason why I became a Patron of your show so you can continue to provide the high quality content with your unique style and quirkiness. Honestly, I am excited for you every time I see your Patron numbers increasing, it means that you’re on the right path and you resonate with the audience. I do like the feedback provided by Glen Lambert, Kenneth Aaltonen & Greg Haddow, their views are in a way my views. No need to change, I will always support someone I believe in. Stay Awesome Felix!

Is there not a way of doing these exclusive members/patrons videos using “UStream”, which I believe is free to use, or there may be a small fee for a members only platform which also includes a live chatroom. Just an idea Felix that may be useful. Cheers BrianRG (Scottish video fan and both Discord and Patron member)

Pete, that was my original idea. Then I found out, that If I make news, they will often be outdated. You see, normaly the last day, when I can change anything on the script is two days before the video is done. If I now get the video done one day early, that puts a monday video deadline for any changes on Friday. In the SpaceX world that right now is a long time. :/

How about putting some of your videos on Patreon a full day before they go up on YouTube? That would seem to offer the best of both worlds, content that Patreon users could feel privileged to see for a short while before the masses see it on YouTube but at no additional cost to you. I believe you currently put the YouTube videos here on Patreon a couple hours before they go up on YouTube but that length of time is so short that it kind of loses its intended effect. Anyway it's just an idea.

Hi Felix, I'm with Kenneth Aaltonen. Your putting out good quality stuff, that we appreciate. Your still a young channel, and are growing reasonably fast... I'd like to see you concentrate patreon funds towards camera gear/computer gear/lighting/microphones/fine wine. Experiment with different things. Even a gopro vid, of you landing a plane, from cockpit view, would be cool. Then as you grow, maybe try the cheap vimeo, available to all Patreon tiers. You'll be fine. Keep doing what you do. Greg

My opinion is that my patreon money goes 100% to your efforts to improve the show, to buy equipment or whatever. Not to give me special content because im a patreon. I know that giving patreons exclusive content is a major line in the sales pitch to become a patreon. But that's not why im doing it. I dont talk for everyone however.

Go with cheaper options but above all don't feel pressured, certainly not be me, to produce additional patron only content.

Hello Felix. I became a Patron to support you in producing your excellent and very up-to-date videos, I wasn't motivated by additional perks so my view is:
