Patreon Changes
Added 2017-12-07 17:34:38 +0000 UTCAs I'm sure many of you have heard, there are soon going to be changes to how Patreon charges people for supporting creators. The long and short of it is that under the new system the creator would get more of the money but the patron will be charged a flat fee on top of service fees for their pledge (the flat fee being $0.35).
Now this will obviously make a difference to $1 patrons more than others as they're going to be seeing the biggest change percentage-wise.
Many people aren't very happy with the change, can't say we blame them.
It seems custom-made to dissuade people from making small contributions to a bunch of different creators. And those small contributions add up and make a large percentage of many a person's Patreon. Also the fact that most people have had to find out about this change through creators rather than through Patreon themselves is kind of awful.
So yeah, this new system seems like a pretty bad idea and we hope they rethink it, but we just wanted you to know that if these changes come into effect and you are no longer able to support us due to the extra fees, that's totally fine.
Seriously, look after yourselves before thinking about us.

Well, the VAT makes everything more expensive for me anyway. So additional money for someone somewhere, who has nothing to do with all of this is ok β I guess. As long as the creator gets the most of it. You are the only people to whom I pledge, that have addressed this so far. Kudos for that.
2017-12-08 12:34:26 +0000 UTCI am already sending a solid 5 bucks to I don't think it will affect me, so I will continue supporting you until my financial situation changes. But yeah, this is total wank. My rewards are only $1 and $3 dollar respectively so this will hit my own base hard so I am going to need to redefine my rewards.
