2023-08-13 06:07:35 +0000 UTCAlicia, I'm still back on 86+87 so I apologize if you've touched upon this since, though I think it's important to remember how long One Piece has been running: Since 1999, 24 years as of this comment, almost to the month. Keep in mind that while some things may happen immediately for you, occasionally the original viewer may have had to wait days or weeks longer, or maybe even years, for something to happen. In most anime this doesn't really matter. In One Piece, where Oda tends to tie everything together, it's a good thing to keep in the back of your head.

The writers don't have enough info about him at this time to make him do anything interesting. Not even sure why the anime decided to do this in the first place

2023-08-11 14:00:39 +0000 UTCI started to rewatch a little bit of naruto shippuden and I can tell you atleast the start of naruto shippuden the canon episodes are paced even slower than one piece but ig that's just my opinion

2023-08-11 12:00:52 +0000 UTCI'm ok with filler stuff if it's actually new stuff. Unfortunately, OP took the route in modern episodes to "fill time" by dragging scenes around. So technically they are still canon, but when you make an entire episode out of half a chapter, it kind of ruins the entire thing especially when they try to beat on the same emotional moment for so long. "Classic" One Piece episodes were much better on average instead. Tbh, though, I prefer an actual filler arc rather than half-and-half episodes. I know that this is the old-tired "pacing issue" argument, but that's how things went and fortunately it's not a rule. You can see when the anime actually does something original or creative that is really good, whether that is filler or canon. I know that there were budget and time reasons for that, but as I viewer I can only judge the final product.

2023-08-11 11:40:54 +0000 UTCThe problem with filler objectively is that it is irrelevant to the story it is placed in and NORMALLY never brought up again (in OP some filler gets easter eggs/cameos in future of anime, like one guy from the best filler arc.) But Subjectively I am ok with some Filler in anime, but yeah in canon filler is the best kind of filler, like half filler, especially in fight scenes but that mostly happens later. ( Personally Bleach and Narutos Filler arcs are way too long, but thats because their canon episodes are paced much faster than One Piece, thats why Toei only does 3 or 4 episode fillers now)

So, technically, "this Ace" is filler and they are delaying the "goodbye scene" to give him more screen time. The next 5 episodes might also feel a bit slower because they are extending them with filler parts. There isn't a clear cut between filler and canon, they are mixing the two. I'm not saying this to be a manga elitist, but just so you can manage your expectations since filler parts are not to be taken into consideration for the future.
