I don't think we misunderstood any of the characters or where they were coming from. But this is just the first episode and we were going by first impressions. Did you have anything specific?

In Korean medical industry, the doctors don't drink FANTA, because 'Fan'' sounds like 'Hwan(환)' which means 'patient(환자/Hwan-ja)', and 'Ta' sounds like 'Ta(타)' which means 'get on(올라 타/Olla-ta)'. So there's a superstition if a doctor drinks Fanta, some CPR or Emergency situations will happen that you have to get on the patients, like the doctor Pyo Nam-Gyung(dyed hair) drank it and emergency happened right after. • The reason they didn’t want to use the card that Professor Seo Jeong-min gave them for dinner is partly because they weren’t that close yet, and also because when a strict professor hands you a card on the first day, they could feel like a test. Like, “Will the residents actually use this even though they haven’t done anything to deserve it yet?” Only Jae-il, being his usual cheerful self, was excited and suggested they all have dinner together. Honestly, I wouldn’t have used it either, just in case. lol • It’s not noticeable in the english subtitles, but Gu Do-won speaks informally(반말/banmal) to Oh I-young inside the hospital, but politely(using honorifics) outside the hospital. A subtle but intentional detail! • The pregnant woman who asked them to pretend it was her first baby (even though it was her second) is most likely a friend of Fellow Myeong Eun-won. Based on the phone conversation, comments like “Why did you have to be on vacation now?” and “Even when I mentioned your name, nobody seemed to care”, it’s hinted that they know each other, and also that Eun-won isn’t very well-liked (classic villain vibes 😂). • The patient giving birth in the hallway is considered extremely embarrassing tragedy for a hospital and its staffs. It implies they failed to properly care for the patient, and in real life, such incidents can even lead to lawsuits. As for Oh I-young crying afterwar, that was because she was deeply moved. It was the first time she had ever delivered a baby herself. • Oh I-young is saved as “520” in Gu Do-won’s phone. That’s because in Korean, the syllables in her name, Oh(오) sounds like 5(오), I(이)=2(이), and Young(영)=0(영).
