Typhoon Family ep01 Reaction!

Comments

We are absolutely intrigued! It seems like a quiet, unassuming drama and it just sinks in so slowly that you don't realize it's taking over! It's beautiful so far and we're loving the characters!

Same about Kim Min-ha. The first time I saw her was in RM's Music Video for "Come Back to Me!" We haven't seen Pachinko or Way Back Love, but she's definitely shining in this drama. It's crazy how much world history we don't cover in our schools here. I'm sure the IMF crisis is probably covered in more advanced economics classes, but we honestly learn SO MUCH by watching Kdramas. It may be a fictional story, but the reality of the crisis is absolutely felt. I'm afraid to watch Dear X now! hahaha We love Tae-poong's mom and her sweetness! And we'll just say, we love Jun-ho. We've loved him since we first saw him in "Good Manager!" He has excellent range!

I liked this drama from the very first episode. Of course, I'm still waiting to give my final verdict since it's ongoing, but so far I'm loving it. I was particularly impressed with Kim Min-ha's performance. I didn't watch Pachinko. She was quite impressive in Light Shop too. But this is where she really shines. I've been told she was outstanding in Way Back Love as well. I need to watch that too now. I only recently discovered that she also sings very well. I also like Tae-pung's mom. She comes across as a naive, kind-hearted housewife in this drama. The actress is also in Dear X. She has a totally different personality in that one. The Asian Financial Crisis affected quite a few countries in East Asia and Southeast Asia back then, not just South Korea. But South Korea was the worst hit by the crisis, along with Thailand (where the domino effect started) and Indonesia. A lot of other countries in the area, including China and Japan, were affected, but not as bad as Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia. Our part of the Asian continent wasn't affected. I don't even remember hearing about it in the news back then. It wasn't until much later that I knew something like this had happened.
