"Then... letās get started," the woman replied, seeming relieved. "Please lie down on the bed first."
"Wait a moment," Lucas narrowed his eyes slightly. "Shouldnāt you wash up first? I donāt mean to be rude, but Iād rather not smell other men on you."
"How could that be possible!" the woman retorted, sounding slightly offended. "This is my first time..."
She suddenly caught herself, quickly correcting, "I mean, this is my first time today. Iāve already washed before coming here."
"Really?" Lucas wasnāt one to hold back. He leaned in close, pressing against her and taking a light sniff. A faint, natural fragrance filled his senses.
Startled, the woman took a step back. "What are you doing?"
"Oh, are you shy?" Lucas smirked, rubbing his nose. "What weāre about to do is far more intimate than this."
Based on his experience, this wasnāt the scent of shower gel. It was something purer, more innocent. Could she really be a virgin? Was she lying to appear more experienced?
How interesting. This was turning out to be far more entertaining than heād expected. On a night that had promised to be dull, this little twist was a welcome surprise.
With that thought, Lucas lay down on the bed. "Letās begin."
"Alright..." the woman nodded, but just as she was about to start, Lucas turned his head and asked with a grin, "Youāre not going to start like this, are you?"
"What do you mean?" she asked, confused.
"Are you planning to keep your clothes on?" Lucas raised an eyebrow.
"Oh..." The woman hesitated for a moment before nodding. "I... I understand."
Slowly, she removed her clothing, leaving only a face towel covering her features. Despite the slight distortion from gravity, her figure was undeniably stunning.
"What about the face towel?" Lucasās gaze lingered before moving upward. "Arenāt you going to let me see your pretty face?"
"I... Iām not very pretty," she replied, shaking her head. "Itās better if you donāt look."
"I find that hard to believe. A woman with such a lovely figure must have a face to match," Lucas said, though he didnāt press further. "Fine, if youāre shy, I wonāt push. This figure alone is worth the price."
As Lucas turned his head, the woman picked up a small box. "Next, please relax and enjoy."
She opened the delicate box, but instead of candy or trinkets, inside lay a compact, powerful revolverāa special Python model favored by skilled operatives. With a six-round capacity, its short barrel belied its immense firepower. This lightweight killer, weighing less than a kilogram, was a force to be reckoned with.
Now, this weapon, capable of piercing steel, was less than two centimeters from the back of Lucasās head.
Perhaps due to her nerves, the veil slipped from the womanās face, revealing her identity: Tonia, the woman who had crossed paths with Lucas earlier that day. She had clearly done her homework, learning where he was staying and disguising herself as a courtesan to get close to him.
Tonia had originally wanted to defeat Lucas in a fair duel to avenge her brotherās death. But deep down, she knew the gap in their strength was too great. Desperation had driven her to this underhanded method, one she despised but saw no alternative to.
No matter how strong his geo-element shield was, a point-blank shot to the brain would be fatal.
But as her finger hovered over the trigger, Lucas spoke without even turning his head. "If your hand keeps shaking like that, you might actually missādespite the point-blank range."
Tonia was stunned for a moment, but before she could pull the trigger, Lucas moved faster. In an instant, the revolver was in his hand.
"This seems a bit too exciting for bedtime," Lucas remarked, weighing the gun in his hand. "Well, well, if it isnāt Tonia, the bodyguard captain. Is the pay so bad that youāve resorted to this kind of side job?"
"Enough of your nonsense!" Tonia snapped, realizing her plan had failed. She pulled a dagger from the box and lunged at Lucas, aiming for his chest.
But the blade met an impenetrable barrier, as if striking steel. The impact sent a sharp pain through her hand, and the dagger clattered onto the bed.
"You know, if you wore your guard uniform, you might attract more customers," Lucas teased, flipping through the contents of her box. "Letās see what else youāve got in here..."
"Donāt touch my things!" Tonia tried to grab the box, but she was too slow.
Lucas pulled out a photo frame. Inside was a black-and-white portrait of her brother, Childe.
"You carry your brotherās photo with you?" Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Do you have some kind of... special attachment?"
"Today, I wanted my brother Ajax to witness my revenge!" Tonia cried, her voice filled with hatred. "Damn it! Why am I so weak?"
The agony of being so close to her enemy yet unable to strike was unbearable. In a fit of despair, Tonia grabbed the dagger and aimed it at her own chest.
But Lucas caught her wrist. "Iāve seen blood on my bed before, but never from a wound like this."
"Let me die..." Tonia struggled. "I canāt avenge him anyway!"
"Itās not impossible," Lucas said, a wicked smile spreading across his face. "How about a fair game? Weāll wager our lives."
"A life-or-death gamble?" Tonia paused, her eyes narrowing. "What do you mean?"
