I was done with superhero movies, I really was but after a few years of having nothing. I know they released them. I just ignored them. That and with Spider-Man PS4/5 I'm feeling the buzz again... the super hero buzz.
I heard great things about this movie and as I was scrolling wondering what movie to watch with you guys, this popped up. Perhaps fate maybe... Who knows but I'm sure hell glad I clicked on it.
Is it any good?
Is it more of the "same" thing?
Will they change up the formular?

Which leads me to say you should definitely check out the new super man. Also a surprise and different approach but really hitting home

2025-08-08 16:03:09 +0000 UTCnot going to lie, this is the first marvel film i have enjoyed since endgame. It was a lot of fun and hit hard in parts. Taskmaster was wasted and taken out way to easy but i did enjoy Ghost, walker and the red guardian. I did find it funny that Lewis pullman was bob in this and played bob in Maverick. lol The problem i find will marvel these days and disney is that they do films to bring in the billion dollar box office, like endgame did i think.. it was one of them. So they often sacrifice a lot to make it a bit spectacle epic, often forgetting that small scale is often better, (Which i why i liked this thing, it wasnt over the top, it was low key and pretty well grounded). Again one the things Godzilla minus one shamed hollywood in. Which is a film i think you would love and would to see you take on it for it was shot on a budget somewhere between 10 to 12 mil.

I think what makes the superhero stuff work is because it let the writers give a very visual element to Bob's darker inner world, and reflect the other characters' darkness, too, in a way that is much easier to follow. Externalize something that's naturally only internal. I thought it was brilliant and as someone who struggles in his own way, I found it very moving to see them tackle this idea so seriously.

A real return to form, a good movie foremost that weaves together existing threads of the universe while setting up what's to come. A good mix of fun, heartfelt moments, and actually funny humor that doesn't compromise the emotional beats.
