GODZILLA MINUS ONE [2023] - FULL REACTION!!

Another movie hits the channel but this time, it's got a big arse Kaiju in it! Trust me guys, do not sleep on this one.

Could this be my favourite movie of the year even though it had a tiny budget!?! Let's find out together shall we. Play The Kaiju Tape!

Kai

P.S. Just a heads up, two things:

i) Before the movie starts, I talk a little about the camera, lenses and budget etc. I did this also on The Batman. This is something new I've been enjoying but let me know if you guys are actually interested in it. Yes, you're enjoying the information or no, please just play the movie.

ii) I accidentally left an audio filter on my microphone so when I speak softly or whisper, it can't be heard. It's what I use for when I live stream. I apologise for this in advance. You'll notice this primarily in one scene. If I didn't say anything, I don't think you guys would notice but honesty is my policy!

I saw you mention you loved Ultraman in the past and based on your enjoyment of kaiju film in general, I wonder if you've seen Shin Ultraman? If not, I think it would make for a great reaction video. Lots of wacky cinematography and angles in that film. Like, I think at one point they frame a conversation through the arms of an office chair. And you being a sub guy is a totally valid choice. Though it would be awesome to see you check out the English dub at some point if you can as I voice Mefilas in it. But it's your channel and you should do what you enjoy! Plus, the only way to see the dub currently is to buy the physical copy. Still not happy with that decision, but distribution is what it is.

Late to this, i love this film, as a fan of the Heisei era, where godzilla is loosely an anti-hero at best. His design is based of the Heisei era godzilla. Godzilla is meant to be a metaphor on the nuclear bombs that were dropped on japan and how it affected the people there. Some of the best godzilla films are where he is the villain or the lesser of two evils. The reason he is attacking in this film is simple revenge. He knows humanity is responsible for what he has become. The reason he doesn't eat anyone and tosses them is that TOHO has strict guidelines on how to use him. One of those rules is he must never be seen to be eating anyone and another is you can't perma kill him, you need to always show a way of him surviving at the end. The black stuff on her is Godzilla cells, she was some how infected with them and thats what saved her and why she didn't have any scratches and bruises as it gives her G-mans healing factor. But it looks be mutating her... this is again ref another godzilla film according to Yamazaki. The reason for some of Godzilla's janky movement is actually intentional as the director while making him a more believable animal, wanted to pay homage to the man in the suit, and for us fans of that era it is such a love letter. So thats why Godzilla is very stiff in a lot of the scene's when he's on land. In reference to his eye's, his eye lids where burned off during the nuclear test that made him. Takashi Yamazaki said that a huge chunk of the budget went on trying to get the water effects right. He was able to keep a lot of the costs down as he is a CGI animator, VFX supervisor, writer and director to boot. I watched the Godzilla X kong and your right this is a far superior film in writing and a lot of the VFX. In GxK they get godzilla doing acrobatics and moving very fast, which makes you loose interest and if you watch it closely the rig for him isnt setup right as there is model deformations in places there shouldn't be. Its also the reason why people are checking out of the monsterverse, its getting to silly and the way they are getting Godzilla to move is to much into the realm of fantasy for a creature of that size. A film made on 10-15 million dollars, and worldwide box office is 115 million.

I've not seen Pirates for years and way before I did what I did now. I'll add the first movie to the next poll or put it in with my short list. Thanks fella, great recommendation.
