2025-07-14 22:45:31 +0000 UTCI love just how unbelievably bleak everything is. Even the cute and happy montage of them hanging out is absolutely fucked if you look under the surface. You have an alien mimicking a girl he murdered, a girl rapidly becoming more manipulative, and a boy who has agreed not only to help hide the body but is actively planning their attempt to flee during the entire montage. Even the happiest moment of this episode is unbelievably dark. Poor Takopi is struggling so much. He was already struggling to accept having killed Marina before, but he thought it was okay if it made someone happy. Now he learns that she also was being abused AND that her death is going to probably further ruin her family. He’s brought Shizuka some happiness, yes, but it’s bringing new suffering to the kids and families around her. Gonna be VERY interesting next episode to see what happens when people discover there are two Marinas. Because the body was found during the day and there’s a good chance someone could absolutely confirm where the fake-Marina is at the same time her body was found. How does this small town handle what’s basically a skinwalker from their perspective?

Whether it’s abusive rage, selfishness and so on. The actual children have to deal with stuff they have no experience in, just strings of consequences that are all perpetuated thanks to adults that won’t actually act like what being an adult should be

2025-07-12 10:35:21 +0000 UTCTheir ability to burying a body is about as on par as SpongeBob & Mr Krabs doing it. 😅 I also find it interesting that Marina exhibited the same traits as her abusive mother when she put hands on Shizuka. And the way Shizuka coerced Azuma to help her is similar to her mother when she seduces her 'clients'.
